David Martin

Chief Executive, Arriva

David held a variety of general management positions before joining the bus industry in 1986. After leading a management buy-out of an East Midlands-based bus company, he was involved in the acquisition of National Express and subsequent management buy-outs leading to the creation of British Bus Group Limited. David joined the group in 1996 on the acquisition of British Bus, becoming a member of the Board in February 1998 with specific responsibility for the group’s international operations and development. From April 2006 David has been the group’s chief executive.

Sir Moir Lockhead OBE

Chief Executive, FirstGroup

Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman since the Group’s formation in 1995. In 1996 he was awarded the OBE for services to the bus industry and in 2008 he was awarded a Knighthood for services to transport. He is a past President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK and currently President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and Senior Governor of the University of Aberdeen.

Keith Ludeman

Group Chief Executive, Go-Ahead

Mr Ludeman held senior management positions in several bus companies in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and London before joining Go-Ahead in 1996 when the Group acquired bus company London General. He joined the Board of Directors of Go-Ahead in September 2004 and was appointed Group Chief Executive in July 2006. Mr Ludeman is a fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, a fellow of the Institute of Railway Operators, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Dean Finch

Group Chief Executive, National Express

Dean Finch joined National Express as Group Chief Executive in February 2010. Prior to joining National Express, Dean was Group Chief Executive of Tube Lines from June 2009. At First Group, he was Managing Director of the Rail Division from 2000-2004 and then was appointed to the main board as Group Commercial Director in 2004, before being made Group Finance Director. With the completion of the Laidlaw acquisition he became Chief Operating Officer in North America before returning to the UK as Group Chief Operating Officer.

Brian Souter

Chief Executive, Stagecoach Group

Brian Souter is one of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs and transport innovators. He founded Stagecoach along with his sister, Ann Gloag, in Perth, Scotland, in 1980, with just two buses. His vision, entrepreneurial flair and innovative ideas have transformed Stagecoach into an international transport group. Listed on the London Stock Exchange, the Group runs around 13,000 buses, coaches, trains and trams in the UK and North America.  Brian has personally championed Stagecoach’s focus on providing greener, smarter travel and developing new ideas in public transport. A qualified chartered accountant and former Board member of Scottish Enterprise, Brian has also pursued a number of ventures within the transport sector outside Stagecoach.

Giles Fearnley

Chairman, Greener Journeys & CPT UK

Giles has spent his entire career in the passenger transport industry, starting with Sheffield Transport Department in 1972. At National Bus Company privatisation he was appointed Managing Director of West Yorkshire Roadcar Company and in 1991 he led an MBO forming Blazefield Holdings. His other interests include being Chairman of both Grand Central Railway Company and Journey Solutions, and Deputy Chairman of Abellio. Giles was President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) in 2008 and last year (2009) he was appointed Chairman of CPT.
